Saving the Language(s)

It stinks to know that some countries and tribes within countries are losing their culture. It's unfair, sad, frustrating, disappointing, and every other adjective that correlates with the word depressing. After watching a video on Chile's tribe, Mapuche, and learning how their history and language is slowly disappearing, I've realized just how many other languages are dying out. In the video, a man stated that, "Language isn't just the means of communication. Language is a mirror of the soul." In South America, Spanish is the number one language that is used throughout the continent, excluding Portuguese, but that does not mean that other languages that were once used needs to go. Bolivia has thirty-seven official languages, being the country that has the most official languages. It screams nothing but history! There is just nothing exciting about a culture dying. When one thinks of culture, they must think tradition, food, music, language, dances, clothing, and uniqueness. Every country, every culture, is different and brings their own creativeness that makes them them. It is already sad enough that the Taino culture is basically dead, (only a few people that claim to be of Taino descent trying to revive it, but soon enough will forget and the Taino's will be seen as to never exist), and it is already depressing that most of the English language that is derived from Latin and no one really speaks it! Credit to those who are fluent in Latin, but it is sure that Latin is not something the younger generations will be exposed to. I do realize and understand that it is not the peoples fault, but it is time. These languages and cultures were from centuries ago and through generations, a lot of things change, but what I ask is for people of their country who don't care what happens to have some compassion to those who appreciate where they come from. History books will always be there to inform others of what once existed, but to think that it will not exist one day is scary. How dare the world erase something and its importance? How dare humans forget where they once came from? Why not preserve everything in the whole entire world? Soon enough, the world will be looked at as an unseasoned piece of chicken. What a shame.
